Early 1940's
Kitchen Renovation
The original kitchen
lacked adequate countertop area, storage, light and aesthetic
interest. Cabinets had been hung over a window in an effort to
increase storage. The traffic pattern through the entire house
ran between refrigerator and the main work area. These
homeowners wanted efficiency and yet wanted to keep the country
charm of their home.
The kitchen, now,
incorporates state-of-the-art appliances, provides highly
functional work areas with plenty of storage and maintains a
light, open look that integrates the kitchen with the early 1940’s
farmhouse feel of the rest of the house.
French Country
interior design is further enhanced with barn beam supports, a
custom heart pine table and a beadboard finish to the banquette
seating, peninsula and the back of the island. Mixed finishes,
stacked cabinet heights, glass doors and open cabinets give
rhythm and interest to the plan. Warm, rich finishes and curved
cabinet doorframes and valances speak French styling. |
