This large great room addition serves as a gracious, comfortable and informal gathering place that connects to the dining room and the kitchen, making entertaining for large groups easy. The large oriental carpet was chosen first, and the red and blue upholstery fabrics were selected to coordinate with it. A soft, warm red was chosen for the custom sofa, upholstered in plush, soft red mohair for year-round enjoyment. Stone for the fireplace was hand selected to coordinate with the red tones requested for the space. A fossil was discovered in one large piece which became the centerpiece of the hearth. The pendant has up and down lights for reading and ambient light. |
Blue and red wool swivel chairs create a separate conversation area wherever they are placed in the room. A red and blue wool fabric on the antique wing chair completes the upholstery. The imported antique walnut desk was positioned below the skylight for maximum light and focus in the room. |

![]() The walls, bookcases, and floors were finished in neutrals so that the red accents could provide sparkle without overwhelming. An especially comfy chair with ottoman was chosen for the quiet corner, upholstered in blue and red wool. |

The remodeled kitchen and enlarged dining room open to the new addition. The interior decor also mirrors the Great Room's color palette and design style. A dusty red wall covering was chosen for the kitchen accent wall to set off an original oil painting of a market scene. |
