After 3 years of living in Paris, the homeowners brought back dining furniture and antique French casegoods, needing all other furnishings for the formal Living Room and Dining Room in their home. The clients wished it to be styled in a Parisian mode, but comfortable. Much more light was admitted, giving a focal point to each room, and creating a French niche for furniture that allowed a more gracious traffic flow.

As furniture planning ensued, it was determined that bay windows would interrupt the long tunnel effect, as well as give focal points to add interest in the Living Room, and add needed space for chair pull-out in the Dining Room. |
Starting with carpet selections, custom furniture was designed to blend with the antiques brought back from Paris. Custom window treatments were designed to set the scene, as well as screen the view from the street. Paint colors were chosen to set off the furnishings, and call out the trim. |

 Larger base, door, and window trim increased the importance of these formal spaces, and additional molding was applied to walls and ceiling, raising the apparent ceiling height. New recessed general and accent lighting was installed, along with decorative pieces. |

 The Foyer opens the house with a French statement with new arched glass doors, stained to harmonize with the stairs and stairrail, new light fixtures that give real light, and the floor tile grout was stained to give dimension and character to the floor.
