McLean project garners 2 awards, receives national publicity

When Peggy answered an email from Laos, she didn’t anticipate all that would follow: an extremely challenging project that gained national recognition through two awards and mention in two national magazines.

With this home renovation, Fisher Group won the Chrysalis Award - Whole House Remodel $250,000-$500,000 and the 2000 NARI Contractor of the Year Award. Professional Remodeler Magazine and Design Build Business both ran articles featuring the unusual McLean project.

House Beautiful Kitchens/Baths featured another challenging kitchen renovation and Home & Design Magazine, published in Maryland, focused on Fisher’s unique approach to design and construction: going beyond the expected—beyond design/build.

In response to events in the last few weeks, ASID designers have been revisiting fire codes. As part of our commitment to safety, we are particularly concerned with fire retardance in interior furnishings, including mattresses, upholstery, floor and window coverings. Often home renovation leads to the purchase of such new furnishings—whose costs are often increased by the quality choice to include fire retardance. We want to remind you that the increased protection may prove to be far more valuable than the additional costs. 

As a National Kitchen and Bath Association member, we are always conscious of fire hazards—in kitchens in particular—and want to stress the need for fire safety in planning, as well as using your kitchen. Purchase a fire extinguisher; keep it accessible and updated.
