The clients wanted a house that was different than the prevailing mode. Renovation was done in Craftsman style; an entry statement was created. Second story addition segues to single level by use of clerestory section. Craftsman theme was further evoked by expressed rafter tails, cedar shingles and siding, and flared transition from siding to existing brick. Strong horizontal banding and low hip roofs help to keep second story addition from appearing too towering on the site. Color selections, light fixtures and custom window and door grilles underscore the Craftsman theme.
